The story of life, like any production, has set designers, extras, producers, story consultants, stars and supporting cast. Without all parts moving in time, the story gets confusing and disjointed.
For most of us, our role is in the background, playing our part, far removed from the main story or even a major subplot. We are members of the supporting cast.
We play out our little dramas, work out our conflicts, relish our tiny victories and hug away our sorrows.
Once I realized that my main part of a side story was over and I am, at best, supporting cast, and, at worst, background extra cast, it was a relief. I could relax into my role and didn't have to worry about the story.
